If you’ve ever hit a tree twice on one hole, we’re probably already friends.
Yes, I really hit the same tree twice. Here’s the full story →

Questions I Get (Besides ‘Is That Your Dog?’)

Here are a few answers to questions I get all the time — about golf, routines, and occasionally Leia.

hort answer — wedges and imagination. My post on backyard practice covers drills, gear, and creative ways to get better with just a few feet of space. Also helpful: Facebook Marketplace listings for cheap nets, mats, chipping targets, et cetera.

Focus on fun and fundamentals. I recommend playing short courses or 9-hole rounds while building comfort with putting, chipping, and 3–5 clubs you trust. Par 3 short courses are my favorite — using your mid-irons and wedges most of the time is a great refresher and builds confidence.

I built one for myself, after paying attention to what I did when I hit good shots. I made a mnemoic for it: G.R.A.C.E. — it helps separate planning from execution and keeps me from freezing over the ball. And, as if it weren’t obvious, the swing cue I need to use most is “swing gracefully.”Full breakdown on how to manage overthinking in the tee-box (or anywhere else on the course) here →.

Absolutely! Just please link back to the original post. And if you all try one of the backyard games, send me a pic — I love seeing how others play through.

Yes — that’s Leia. She’s my loyal practice partner, emotional support critic, and occasional ball thief. She’s judgmental but fair.

Not a pro. Not a beginner. Just a golfer with a spreadsheet, a pre-shot routine, and a tendency to overshare the mishits—hoping others can laugh, learn, or at least feel seen.
